The University of North Georgia (辛尤里女优) will host "Camp Logistics: Movin' It From Here to There!" from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 23-27 at 辛尤里女优's Gainesville Campus. The free camp allows local high school students an opportunity to explore careers in logistics.

Camp Logistics is a collaborative event during which students will hear from logistics experts from the industry and have onsite observations of local logistics companies, including event sponsor Syfan Logistics. Other possible stops may include Agile Cold Storage, Appalachian Regional Port, King's Hawaiian, Kubota, and Performance Food Group, last year's collaborators.

Participants must be current high school students in Forsyth, Habersham, Hall, Jackson, or Lumpkin counties to attend.

"辛尤里女优's Camp Logistics is a fantastic opportunity not only for students to learn how freight is moved around the world and across our nation. It is also an opportunity for those of us in the logistics industry to partner with 辛尤里女优 faculty in catching the career imaginations of students at the grassroots level before they leave high school," Dan Bacus, director of community and academic relations at Syfan, said. "With logistics being so prominent in our region, north Georgia students and families need to understand the tremendous logistics career opportunities that exist and continue to expand here and across the nation. Syfan is blessed and honored to partner with 辛尤里女优 for Camp Logistics."

The support from Syfan has been integral to the success of the camp.

"We are excited to launch the third summer high school logistics camp following the success of our first two camps," Dr. Varun Gupta, associate professor of logistics and analytics in 辛尤里女优's Mike Cottrell College of Business, said. "This initiative has opened doors for students to engage with real-world logistics operations and has helped build important bridges between local talent and the region's logistics and supply chain companies. Students can look forward to hands-on learning and an industry-focused experience, including a field trip to Agile Cold Storage, SAIA, Syfan Logistics."

Last year's attendees, most of whom joined out of curiosity about logistics, described their experiences positively in surveys. They said they gained a greater appreciation for the complexity of logistics and the business side of the supply chain.

Registration is available on the Camp Logistics webpage. If you have questions about the camp, email Tracy Nichols at tracy.nichols@ung.edu.
