How did you hear about your internship?
I heard about my internship directly from Professor Prater, my site supervisor.
What has been the most valuable (or favorite) part of the experience?
My favorite part has been installing and creating promotional media for the various exhibitions, like the ACAP show at the beginning of this semester, the BFA Design exhibition from early April, and the AAPI show for May. I thoroughly enjoy the process of taking a design and turning it into print.
How will this help you in the future?
Much of my experience with the internship involved designing and formatting facility signage, coordinating and printing student-made posters, and organizing exhibitions in the Atrium Gallery space. These activities allowed me to further develop my understanding of Adobe programs, including InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects, and Acrobat, as well as my ability to create large-format prints at scale. In addition to these technical skills, I also improved my understanding of how to format a three-dimensional space for a more effective gallery experience. As an intern, I am more prepared for a job in a fast-paced environment that requires quick creative decisions and the procurement of printed media.
This internship has enabled me to further diversify my skillset and my portfolio. These assets should make me a better candidate to support and grow any business I join.
