辛尤里女优 Dahlonega Campus Traditions

Drill Field

The Drill Field, named for a four-star general and North Georgia graduate, is considered hallowed ground. While the campus community is welcome to use it for appropriate events, a long-standing tradition prohibits using it as a shortcut out of respect for the field.

Arches

The Class of 1951 dedicated the main campus archway to the Class of 1950, honoring their combat service in Korea and the five graduates lost a year after graduation. As a mark of respect for this tradition, new cadets are not to walk under the main arch until their freshman year is complete; instead, they should use the smaller arch to the left.

Drill Field South End Gate

In 2024, a new review stand and gate were added to the south end of the drill field. These enhancements support President Shannon's "Deliver the Corps of the Future" initiative and honor the Corps of Cadets' 1873 legacy of service to the nation. A new tradition has also begun: cadets are not to walk through these gates until they have graduated, except for official ceremonies like marching in groups during Pass & Review.

Reveille & Retreat

A 75-mm pack howitzer fires daily at 0700 and 1700 from the Scabbard & Blade Triangle (between the Drill Field and Memorial Hall) for the raising and lowering of the U.S. Flag. This 50-year tradition, called Reveille in the morning, prompts cadets to salute and asks civilians to pause and face the flag.

Memorial Wall

Annually in April, we honor deceased alumni and students by reading their names to consecrate the memorial. Traditionally, those passing through the area pause to pay respects to the fallen before leaving. Find more information about the names listed for remembrance.

Formations Have the Right-Of-Way

Marching cadet formations have the right-of-way on 辛尤里女优 roads. Treat them like slow vehicles and be patient; leaders will maneuver when possible for safe passing.

Family Day

This annual event where students share their 辛尤里女优 experiences with loved ones. Families can participate in the Blue and Gold Ceremony (where first-year students receive their pins), visit the shooting range, watch a military review, or enjoy the Rec Center's climbing wall, laser tag, and mini-golf. The afternoon offers a planetarium show, time to explore Dahlonega, or a Nighthawks Entertainment movie. Find information and details about Family Day 2025.

Alumni Weekend

Parents, students, alumni, and the public have an opportunity to experience our exceptional Corps and campus, fostering camaraderie, relationships, and school pride. This event highlights the Corps' excellence during a ceremony honoring outstanding students and dedicated alumni. Midnight Breakfast

SGA and Campus Dining host a late-night special breakfast for students in the dining hall from 10:00 p.m. to midnight on the Thursday evening before Fall and Spring final exams. Faculty, staff, and SGA members volunteer to cook and serve, and provide music and door prizes.

Nighthawk Statues

The nighthawk statues are a unifying tradition across all campuses. The statues are located in prominent locations on each campus and can be rubbed on the beak for good luck on exams or athletic events.
